Structural Demolition

Segment-by-segment cold-cut demolition of an industrial steel structure within a legacy hydrocarbon-contaminated facility. Atmospheric monitoring confirmed clean air throughout the work boundary before cold-cutting equipment was engaged. Each segment was rigged before cutting to prevent uncontrolled collapse.

Breakdown

ZERO SPARK

No Heat-Generating Tools

Absolute prohibition on grinders, torches, and friction saws enforced by field supervisor. Diamond wire saws and hydraulic shears exclusively used for all steel cutting. PPE inspection required before each shift.

COLD-CUT

Segment-By-Segment Protocol

Structure analyzed by structural engineer before demolition sequence was developed. Segments cut in sequence from top down to maintain stability of remaining structure. No uncontrolled collapse permitted — every segment rigged before cutting.

LOTO VERIFY

Full Energy Isolation

All residual energy sources — residual product in any attached piping, electrical drops, and hydraulic lines — identified, isolated, and verified zero-energy before structural work commenced.

HAZWOPER

Contaminated Site Response

Site classified as a HAZWOPER operation due to legacy soil and structural surface contamination. Full personnel decontamination station established at the work zone egress. Air monitoring conducted throughout for benzene and VOC exposure.
